'New Techniques Can Cure Vulvar Cancer'

Eminent gyanecologic oncologist Dr M V Baal of Amsterdam on Sunday said that the female genital tract cancer can be completely cured by using new surgical techniques. Dr Baal said that if cancer related to vulva are surgically removed efficiently and the draining lymph nodes excised completely, then vulvar cancer stand a good chance of complete cure.

She said this while addressing a scientific session during the seven-day workshop on Female Genital Tract Malignancy, organized by Mahavir Cancer Sansthan here. She also emphasized on the role of new surgical modalities for the treatment of cervix cancer.

While Dr K Uma from Bangalore spoke on various issues related to ovarian cancer, Dr S K Das of New Delhi stressed upon the importance of colposcopy in early detection of cancer.

Sansthan director Dr Jitendra Kumar Singh said that the Sansthan would continue to provide better facilities in the field of cancer management through workshops, seminars and conferences being organized round the year to educate doctors about the new modalities in cancer treatment.

Noted gyanecologists Dr Manju Geeta Mishra, Dr Shanti Roy, Dr Pramila Gupta, Dr Pramila Modi, Dr Shanti SIngh, Dr Anita Singh, Dr Vineeta Singh, Dr Nirmala Saxena, Dr Jagdishwari Roy and Dr Rita Dayal were those present on the occasion.
