More than 1.2 million cases of breast cancer are detected every year. One in eight women in the United States (US) is diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. In India, this rate is one in 15 women, said oncosurgeon Sanjay Deshmukh of Ruby Hall Clinic’s cancer care centre in a press conference on Tuesday

“Breast cancer care has changed today. With many advances in treatment, patients can live a normal life. The treatment has tremendously increased the lifespan of patients. In India due to multiple factors breast cancer has become the commonest cancer especially in the urban parts,” Deshmukh said.

Ruby Hall Clinic and ‘Association of Breast Surgeons of India' will organise the 1st West Zone Breast Cancer CME, Symposium and Surgical Workshop — ‘Oncology Current Trends– 2011’. The three-day long symposium will commence at Ruby Hall Clinic, Kamalnayan Bajaj Cancer Centre from September 2.
